Second series of ITV documentary ‘The Cruise’ to air in January 2017.
The second series of a six-part ITV documentary set onboard a Princess Cruises ship will air from Thursday January 12 at 8.30pm. ‘The Cruise’ reveals what life is like for crew and guests onboard the 3,560-guest Royal Princess.
The second series was filmed in the Mediterranean this summer. Hugh Bonneville, who provided the voiceover for the first series, will reprise his role for series two.
Royal Princess was launched in 2013 in Southampton by HRH, The Duchess of Cambridge.
Each episode from the new series will give viewers insight into the day-to-day roles of the 1,400-strong crew, who hail from countries across the world. Viewers will see how the team works together to keep the operations of the ship running smoothly including navigating the 141,000-tonne, 19-deck ship; preparing over 20,000 meals a day; and servicing 1,800 cabins. As well as catching up with familiar faces from series one, viewers will also get to meet new crew members.
Both series have been made for ITV by Wild Pictures, one of the UK’s leading factual documentary makers. Wild Pictures has a reputation for creating access-led films with high production values that focus on major organisations and human interest stories.
Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ vice president UK and Europe, said: “Following on from the success of series one, which averaged 3.5 million viewers and has received a National Television Award nomination, we are excited to see what series two has in store for Royal Princess’ crew and guests.”
