DAY 4 - OLLANTAYTAMBO / AGUAS CALIENTES Board a morning train that winds through the spectacular Urubamba Valley to the end of the line: the village of Aguas Calientes, a frontier town nestled in the hills beneath Machu Picchu. Those who have purchased and pre-booked the '1-day Inca Trail' hike will disembark the train at 104km and trek to the Sun Gate for the first glimpse of Machu Picchu before re-join- ing the group at Aguas Calientes for the night. DAY5-AGUASCALIENTES/CUSCO Rise and shine – the best time to see the Lost City of the Incas is in the early morning light. Follow the local guide to Machu Picchu to learn about its history at a leisurely pace. Gain local insight into the Inti Mach’ay cave, Inti Watana, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Water, the Temple of the Condor, and the Room of the Three Windows. Take time to sit and feel the energy of this 15th-century site, now both a UNESCO World Heritage site and voted one of the new Seven Wonders of the World (in a worldwide Internet poll). Later, return by train to Ollantaytambo and meet a private vehicle to head back to Cusco. DAY 6 - CUSCO Enjoy a free day in Cusco. Opt to visit the local market, a nearby archaeologi- cal site, or get a massage. Or even opt to visit the Rainbow Mountain and lookout over these colourful Andean mountains striped with maroon, turquoise, lavender, and gold. The sediment, elevation, and proximity to the ocean create a landscape that has to be seen to be believed. Get started early to drive around 2 hours to the starting point of this challenging, yet rewarding full-day hike. Reaching 5,029m (16,500 ft) this 14km hike is no walk in the park, but these unique mountains do not disappoint. DAY 7 - CUSCO / LIMA Head to the airport and fly back to Lima for an overnight stay. DAY 8 - LIMA This is where your land tour ends and your 12 night full board cruise begins. Embark Koningsdam and spend the day settling in and finding your way around. DAY 9, 10 & 11 - AT SEA Spend three days at sea discovering all the entertainment and activities on board, taking full advantage of everything to see and do. DAY 12 - PUERTO CALDERA Ideally placed for exploring some of Costa Rica’s best cities and national parks, Puerto Caldera on the Pacific Coast is a small town with big offerings. DAY 13 - CORINTO Situated on Nicaragua’s Pacific Coast, Corinto is an island that connects to the mainland by several bridges. There are a few things to see and do here, but many people venture to the city of León. IS THIS TOUR FOR ME?
