Horses are the highlight of this festival held in Es Mercadal, which is located at the centre of Menorca. Riders and their mounts are dressed in traditional medieval dress and perform a parade through the streets before congregating in the main square where the horses display a dance to traditional folk music.

Gràcia Festival celebrates Our Lady of Grace – the patron of Mahón – with a pilgrimage to the chapel which has been dedicated to her. There are horse races in the streets and people gather in Plaça de la Conquesta for a chance to catch a commemorative bottle of wine which is thrown from the town hall.

This annual event takes place in Ciutadella around midsummer’s eve and involves processions, displays on horseback such as jousting, mock battles involving hazelnut shells as ammunition and an enormous firework display.
