The Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas is a Freedom Class Ship which was debuted in April 2008. She was built in Finland in the same ship yard as her sister ships, the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas and Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas.

Main Dining

The Independence of the Seas' main dining room consists of three levels, each with their own restaurant. They do however all share the same menu.

1. King Lear on the deck five only opens for dinner and can seat up to 883 guests. They offer the more flexible My Time Dining, which means you can make a reservation any time between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM. While reservations aren't obligatory, they are recommended.

2. Macbeth is on deck four and seats 500 guests. They only open for dinner with seatings at 6 PM and 8:30 PM.

3. The Romeo and Juliet Dining Room on deck three can seat up to 652 guests. They open for breakfast between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM and for lunch between noon and 1:30 PM. If you don't have a lot of time for lunch, you can opt for their special thirty-minute lunch, which gets you out the door quicker. They have two fixed dinner times at 6 PM and 8:30 PM respectively.

Giovanni's

Independence of the Seas' Giovanni's Table is a classy Italian Trattoria with both indoor and al fresco eating options. If you're after rustic authentic Italian food, this is the place for you. It can be found on deck 11 and charges a cover fee.

Sorrentos

Sorrentos restaurant can be found on deck 5's Royal Promenade and opens daily from 11:30 AM to 3:00AM. It can seat up to 79 guests and is particularly popular for those craving pizza after a long night on the dance floor. It has no cover charge and serves authentic mouth-watering Italian pizzas as well as daily specials such as anti-pasto including roasted peppers, olives, panini of the day, and pancetta. They also have fresh breads daily as well as desserts ranging from panna cotta, amaretti biscotti and tiramisu.

Johnny Rockets

American guests will recognize the fifties diner style restaurant, Johnny Rockets, as its been around on land for a very long time. It's a traditional US burger joint is located on deck 12 and fitted out with Formica counters, red booths, and an old-fashioned jukebox. The menu includes great burgers and fries as well as world famous malted milk shakes. Seating 84 guests it does have a small cover charge, but this includes as much as you can eat, although drinks are extra. It is open from 11:30 til midnight every day and sometimes have entertainment provided by their singing and dancing waiters.

Windjammer

Windjammer Cafe can be found on deck 11 and seats more than 700 guests. It's the ship's very large self-service restaurant, which also offers great views of the ocean. You can stop by here any time of the day for their buffet breakfasts, lunches, dinner and snacks. There is a whole range of different foods ranging from a simple salad or sandwich up to Japanese food, Indian curries, American favourites and Italian pizza and pasta. It opens for breakfast between 6:30 Am to 11 AM, lunch is between 11:30 AM to 3PM, and dinner is served between 6:30 PM and 9 PM. They also have afternoon tea available from 3.30pm to 5.00pm.

Fish & Ships

Between sunbeds and splashdowns, Fish & Ships on Independence of the Seas is your cue for crispy comfort and quick smiles. This poolside favorite plates up golden beer-battered fish and chips with proper chunky fries, zesty lemon and the essentials like tartar, malt vinegar and even curry sauce to keep it authentically British at sea. Fancy a little variety? Look for seafood baskets, shrimp, calamari, fish sandwiches and kid-pleasers like chicken tenders, all served hot and fast so you can get back to the sunshine. Seating is casual and alfresco, service is friendly and efficient, and a la carte pricing keeps it simple.

Chops Grille

Call off the hunt for the perfect steak and book Chops Grille on Independence of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's signature steakhouse where prime cuts get star billing and dinner becomes an event. Think impeccably seared ribeye, tender filet mignon, bone in chops and indulgent surf and turf, all paired with steakhouse icons like truffled mac and cheese, creamed spinach and crispy Yukon fries. Start with classic shrimp cocktail or a decadent crab cake, then let a curated wine list or a bold Old Fashioned do its finest supporting role. The vibe is warm, clubby and date night ready, with polished, guest first service that remembers your preferred doneness before you ask. Izumi Hibachi & Sushi

For dinner with a side of showmanship, book Izumi Hibachi & Sushi on Independence of the Seas, where sizzling teppanyaki and pristine sushi share the spotlight. At the hibachi tables, chefs flip, sear, and entertain while crafting steak, chicken, shrimp, and veggie favorites with fried rice and noodles that arrive hot off the grill. Prefer the quiet art of sushi Try delicate nigiri, sashimi, and inventive maki rolls, plus tempura and robata-style bites that deliver serious umami.
