Celebrity APEX Review: A Wow-Factor Cruise Ship

I was lucky enough to fly out to Lisbon to see Celebrity Apex with my husband. Celebrity Apex, part of the Celebrity Cruises Edge Series, is a truly magnificent ship and has that wow factor from the moment you step on board.

One of the standout features for me has to be the Magic Carpet, a moving platform bar on the side of the ship serving cocktails with incredible ocean views. Another favourite of ours was Eden at the aft of the ship, a beautiful glass venue that transforms throughout the day from a peaceful lounge into an entertainment space at night.

The Rooftop Garden is also a must-see. With live greenery, comfy seats, live music and a huge outdoor movie screen, it’s such a lovely place to relax during the day or evening.

The Martini Bar became one of the liveliest spots onboard. Every few hours, the bartenders put on an incredible cocktail-making show with juggling, music and lots of energy, it attracted a crowd every single time.

Before dinner each evening, we often met for drinks in The Club, which has a really fun atmosphere with entertainment early in the evening before turning into more of a nightclub later on.

Dinner on the first evening was in the Cosmopolitan Restaurant, one of the complimentary dining venues, and the food and service were absolutely fantastic. There was an impressive choice, catering for picky eaters through to those looking to try more local flavours, all delivered with top-level service. Over the next few nights, we also dined in Normandie and Cyprus, and honestly, all three restaurants were exceptional. We didn’t feel the need to try the speciality dining as it was just a short trip and the included restaurants were already of such a high standard.

Entertainment onboard was another real highlight. Caravan in The Club was an amazing Cirque du Soleil-style performance with incredible acrobatics and visuals, while Rockumentary in the main theatre took us through the decades of rock music and was brilliant from start to finish.

As this was a sailing with no port stops, the purpose of the trip was simply to make the most of the ship itself, and it really was the main event. Our favourite place to relax was definitely the Solarium, the adults-only indoor pool area. It was peaceful, warm and perfect for unwinding, especially as the weather outside was a little cooler. Sea days can get busy, so I’d definitely recommend getting there early if you want a sunbed.

The three nights on board absolutely flew by, and my husband and I had the most amazing time on board Celebrity Apex. It was an unforgettable experience and a ship I would highly recommend.
