Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady

Sailing like a Rockstar with Scarlet Lady

Pierre, Sales Team Leader, Reviews Scarlet Lady

I was recently invited aboard Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady to experience a seven-night Mediterranean escape, round-trip from the vibrant city of Barcelona. Virgin Voyages is renowned for turning traditional cruising on its head—think adults-only premium holidays, elevated dining with no buffets in sight, sleek modern spaces, and pure rockstar energy at sea. With rave reviews from so many of our customers, I couldn’t wait to experience it for myself.

Day One: VIP Embarkation, Champagne & Pyjama Party

We’ve officially set sail—and what a way to start! Day one was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we stepped onto the ship, everything was seamless and full of little luxuries, setting the tone for an unforgettable trip. Here’s a breakdown of our first day on board.

VIP Rock Star Embarkation Experience
As VIP Rock Stars, we were treated to early boarding—two hours before general embarkation. This gave us a calm, crowd-free window to explore the ship, settle into our cabin, and start soaking in the vibes.
Upon arrival, we headed to the Sip Lounge, where we were welcomed with unlimited champagne for an hour. Yes, unlimited! It was the perfect way to toast the start of our adventure.

Sail Away Party – Vibes on the Top Deck
At 6 pm, the energy shifted into party mode with the Sail Away Party on the top deck, right by the pool. Great music, stunning views, and that contagious vacation energy made it a highlight of the day. It felt like the entire ship came alive.

Dinner at Gunbae – Food, Fire & Drinking Games
Later in the evening, we dined at Gunbae, a Korean BBQ restaurant with a fun twist. The food was cooked right at the table, which made the experience super interactive. It’s best enjoyed with a party of three or more, as the atmosphere is lively and full of laughs—especially once the drinking games begin! A must-visit restaurant if you’re looking for something fun and different.

Rocks Bar – Chill Vibes & Live Music
After dinner, we moved on to The Rocks Bar, where live music created a cozy and mellow atmosphere. This was the perfect spot to unwind, chat, and sip cocktails after all the excitement of the day.

Pyjama Party – Late Night Fun
Before calling it a night, we headed back to the cabin to change into our pyjamas for the Pyjama Party, which started at 11 PM. Whether you’re there for the full event or just stop by for a bit, it’s a quirky, fun experience that’s well worth it. Think dancing, laughs, and good vibes all around.

Day one exceeded all expectations. Smooth embarkation, VIP perks, great food, fun parties, and chill downtime—it was the perfect start to our cruise. Can’t wait to see what Day Two brings!

Day 2: Brunch, Bubbles & Scarlet Lady Sea Day

Our first full sea day was all about relaxation, creativity, and indulgence—exactly what a cruise should be. With no ports to explore, we took the opportunity to enjoy everything the ship had to offer, from luxurious brunches to painting with prosecco.

Brunch at The Wake – A Decadent Start
We began the morning with a slow and satisfying brunch at The Wake, one of the ship’s more elegant dining spots. I kicked things off with a comforting bowl of clam chowder, followed by a hearty plate of steak and eggs—both delicious and beautifully presented. It’s a perfect venue if you’re looking for a more upscale start to your day.

Paint & Bubbles – Art with a Sparkle
At 1 pm, we signed up for Paint and Bubbles—and it turned out to be one of the most unexpectedly fun parts of the day. The session lasted about an hour, led by a friendly and talented onboard artist who guided us through creating our own little masterpieces.
But let’s be honest—the best part? Our glasses were constantly refilled with bubbly as we painted! For $35 per person, it’s a great way to pass the time on sea days, especially if you’re into fun, low-pressure activities that involve a little creativity (and a lot of prosecco).

Rock Star Happy Hour – 5 to 6 pm Every Day
One of the amazing perks of having Rock Star VIP status is the daily happy hour from 5–6 pm, where we could kick back and enjoy complimentary drinks before dinner. It’s a lovely way to get into the evening mood and chat with fellow Rock Stars.

Dinner at Razzle Dazzle – Bold Flavors & Beautiful Service
Dinner tonight was at the playful and eclectic Razzle Dazzle. The menu leaned heavily into modern Asian fusion—think colourful, creative dishes packed with bold flavours.
We enjoyed a full three-course meal (starter, main, and dessert), and the service was top-notch. One of the many touches I love about Virgin Voyages is that your first drink is always on them, which adds a little extra sparkle to every meal.

Early Night
As much as we wanted to enjoy more of the evening entertainment, I had to call it an early night due to a bit of sunstroke from a day spent soaking up rays on the deck. Sometimes your body tells you to rest—and I listened!

Final Thoughts
Day two was all about balancing fun and self-care. From painting with prosecco to five-star meals, every moment felt like a little luxury. Even with the early bedtime, it was a deeply satisfying day at sea.
Stay tuned for Day Three—we’re just getting started!

Day 3: Rome in a Day – Ruins, Fountains & Pasta Dreams

Today we docked in Civitavecchia, and it was time for one of the most exciting stops on our itinerary—Rome! With a full day to explore the Eternal City, we packed in as much as we could, from iconic landmarks to a well-earned Italian lunch. Here’s how our Roman adventure unfolded:

Arrival in Rome – Transfer & First Impressions
We disembarked around 8:30 AM and hopped onto our pre-arranged transfer into Central Rome. The journey took just over an hour, and before long, we were right in the heart of the city surrounded by ancient history and buzzing piazzas.

Sightseeing Highlights – The Must-See Spots
Rome is bursting with landmarks, and while we couldn’t see everything in one day, we managed to hit the major icons:

  • The Spanish Steps – Great views and a lovely place to people-watch.
  • The Colosseum – Just as majestic in person as you’d imagine.
  • The Vatican – Even from the outside, it’s awe-inspiring.
  • Trevi Fountain – Threw in a coin, made a wish—because why not?

If you’re planning a similar day trip, wear comfortable shoes—Rome is full of cobblestones, stairs, and long walks. It’s not a flip-flop kind of day.

Italian Lunch Break – Pasta & Local Beer
Midway through our sightseeing sprint, we stopped at a charming little Roman restaurant. I had a delicious plate of fresh pasta paired with a local Italian beer. Simple, authentic, and perfect after a morning on our feet.

Back on Board – Dinner at Extra Virgin
We returned to the Scarlet Lady around 6:30 PM, just in time to freshen up for dinner. Tonight’s reservation was at Extra Virgin, the ship’s upscale Italian restaurant.
I opted for a sea bass dish paired with pasta as my second course. No dessert tonight—still full from that generous Roman lunch! As always, the food and service onboard were excellent.

Quiz Night – A Fun Finish
To wrap up the day, we joined in on Quiz Night at the Sports Bar. It was a great way to wind down and have a few laughs. Most of the questions leaned American, but we held our own and finished in a tie for 4th place—not bad at all!

Final Thoughts
Rome in a day is no small feat, but it was completely worth it. The mix of ancient wonders, delicious food, and vibrant street life made for a whirlwind yet unforgettable experience. Back on board, dinner and trivia were the perfect low-key way to end a very full day.
Bring on Day 4!

Day 4: Marina di Carrara – Beach Vibes, Bone Marrow & a Y2K Throwback

Today we docked in Marina di Carrara, a lesser-known but beautiful stop along the Italian coast. While some of our group headed off to explore Pisa, a few of us opted for a low-key beach day, and it turned out to be just what we needed.

Morning by the Sea – A Swim & a Stroll
Instead of venturing far, we decided to walk around the port area and soak in the local atmosphere. Just a short distance from the ship, we found a peaceful beach and took a refreshing dip in the sea. It was simple, relaxing, and a nice break from the busier excursions.

Rock Star Perks – Chilling at Richard’s Rooftop
Back on board the Scarlet Lady, we made the most of our Rock Star VIP status with a visit to Richard’s Rooftop—a private, exclusive sun deck reserved for Rock Stars.
With its chilled-out vibe, plush loungers, hot tubs, and attentive bar service, it’s one of the best spots on the ship to unwind. We spent the afternoon catching some rays, chatting, and sipping Cokes (included in the package) before getting ready for dinner.

Dinner at The Wake – A Bold Culinary Experience
At 6:15 pm, we headed to The Wake, one of my absolute favourite restaurants onboard. Tonight, I pushed my boundaries a bit with the bone marrow starter—something totally new for me, and surprisingly good! For my main, I had a sirloin steak with sides and wrapped up the meal with an incredible lemon cheesecake—honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.
Add in a few perfectly paired drinks, and it was a dinner to remember.

Showtime – Y2K Nostalgia
After dinner, we caught the evening performance of Y2K, a vibrant show that took us back to New Year’s Eve 1999–2000. Think iconic songs, flashy fashion, and non-stop energy. The performers brought the era to life with live music, dance, and a huge dose of nostalgia.
Virgin Voyages really knows how to put on a show—the entertainment has been consistently top-tier.

Final Thoughts
Day Four was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Whether you spent it exploring Pisa or floating in the sea, Marina di Carrara offered a slower pace that gave us time to recharge. With an adventurous dinner and a fun throwback show to end the day, it’s safe to say this cruise keeps getting better.
Can’t wait for what Day Five has in store!

Day 5: Corsican Charm & Scarlet Night Shenanigans

Today we arrived in Ajaccio, Corsica, and let me tell you—this place is a gem. From cobbled backstreets to golden beaches, it was the kind of port day that reminds you why cruising is the best way to explore the world. And the night? Let’s just say Scarlet Night delivered… and then some.

Exploring Ajaccio – Markets, Streets & Beach Bliss
Once we disembarked, we took a leisurely walk through the port town, weaving our way through charming backstreets and a bustling local market. Ajaccio has a relaxed, authentic feel—perfect for wandering.
We eventually made our way to a small beach not far from the port, where we spent the rest of the morning swimming, sunbathing, and simply soaking up the Mediterranean magic. No excursions today, just a laid-back vibe, sunshine, and sea breeze.

Back on Board – Getting Ready for Scarlet Night
After returning to the Scarlet Lady, we headed back to our cabin to freshen up and get into our Scarlet Night outfits. (Yes, everything red!) This themed night is one of the most talked-about parties on Virgin Voyages, and we were ready for it.
But first—dinner.

Dinner at Pink Agave – Bold Mexican Flavours
Tonight’s meal was at Pink Agave, the ship’s elevated take on Mexican cuisine.
Here’s what I ordered:

  • Taco sampler to start – flavourful and fresh
  • Pulled pork main – juicy, rich, and perfectly spiced
  • Bread pudding with ice cream, and a few chocolate tacos for dessert – over-the-top in the best way

The atmosphere at Pink Agave is dark, moody, and stylish—a great spot to dine before a big night out.

Scarlet Night – The Wildest Night Yet
After dinner, it was time for Scarlet Night—and wow, what a night! The entertainment around the pool was electric: dancers, music, and an energy that kept building all night long.
Somewhere in the madness, I ended up in the pool… fully clothed. Don’t ask me how—Scarlet Night has a way of getting wild in the best possible way. It was hands-down one of the most unforgettable nights of the cruise.

Final Thoughts
From Corsican calm to pool party chaos, Day Five was an incredible rollercoaster. The contrast between the serene port day and the electric night just shows how dynamic this cruise experience is. If you’re sailing with Virgin Voyages, do not miss Scarlet Night—just maybe bring a change of clothes.

Onto Day Six!

Day Six: Ibiza Nights & Calvin Harris Vibes

Today was all about recharging and raving. After a few busy port days and late nights, we had a relaxed morning onboard the Scarlet Lady, saving our energy for what would be one of the biggest nights of the trip—Calvin Harris’ opening party in Ibiza. Let’s dive in.

Morning Vibes – Brunch at Razzle Dazzle
We started the day slow and easy with a brunch at Razzle Dazzle, one of the ship’s most colourful and quirky venues. The food, as always, was top-notch. I went for a hearty and satisfying brunch—flavourful, fresh, and the perfect fuel for the day ahead.

Afternoon – Chill Mode: Activated
With no port call until the evening, the afternoon was all about rest and recharge. Whether lounging on deck, relaxing in the cabin, or sipping soft drinks at Richard’s Rooftop, we made sure to conserve our energy for the wild night ahead.

Arrival in Ibiza – Let the Party Begin
We arrived in Ibiza around 6:30 PM, and the excitement was building. Ibiza needs no introduction—it’s the party capital of Europe, and we were headed to Calvin Harris’ opening night party.
The atmosphere? Insane. The music? Even better. The crowd, the lights, the energy—this was a bucket list moment, and it lived up to every expectation. An unforgettable night of dancing, music, and pure Ibiza magic.

Midnight Eats – Burgers at The Galley
After the party ended around 11 PM, we made our way back to the ship and stopped at The Galley for some much-needed burger and chips. All freshly made, and honestly, exactly what we needed after a night out. Midnight food always hits differently, especially after a night like that.

Final Thoughts
Day Six gave us the best of both worlds: a peaceful, chill day at sea and an epic night out in one of the most iconic party destinations in the world. From brunch to burgers and Calvin Harris in between, this day was one for the memory books.
Up next? One final full day to wrap up an unforgettable voyage.

Day 7: Farewell Ibiza – Food, Friends & Final Toasts

With just one more day left aboard the Scarlet Lady, we woke up feeling the aftereffects of last night’s party with Calvin Harris in Ibiza—but the show must go on! Today was all about soaking up the last of that Virgin Voyages magic, making the most of our time with new friends, and saying goodbye in style.

Morning Stroll in Ibiza Town
After a good sleep (much needed after all that dancing!), we took a relaxed walk around Ibiza Town, enjoying the coastal views, whitewashed buildings, and vibrant local life. We stopped off at a seaside bar for a quick drink, taking a moment to soak in the last few hours of land before setting sail one final time.

Chilling at The Dock – Deck 7 Bliss
Back on board, we headed to The Dock on Deck 7, one of the most underrated spots on the ship. It’s the ultimate chill zone, with comfy loungers, laid-back vibes, and amazing bites.
I went for the hanger steak, which was delicious. We paired it with a bit of bubbly to toast our final evening onboard, surrounded by great company and warm memories.

Dinner at The Test Kitchen – A Show-Stopping Finale
For our final dinner, we had a reservation at the Test Kitchen—Virgin’s experimental, tasting menu-style restaurant. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as soon as the courses started arriving, it became clear: this is a must-do dining experience.
We enjoyed five unique courses, each one more impressive than the last—plated like art, packed with flavour, and unlike anything else on board. Truly a 5-star experience and the perfect culinary send-off.

Final Drinks & Karaoke Send-Off
After dinner, we returned to The Dock for a few final drinks with our group. We reflected on the incredible week we’d had—new places, amazing food, epic parties, and unforgettable memories.
To wrap things up in true Scarlet Lady style, we finished the night with a round of karaoke at the Sports Lounge—plenty of laughs, questionable vocals, and all the fun you’d expect from a group of cruisers not quite ready to say goodbye.
We headed to bed around midnight, with early disembarkation scheduled for 8:30 AM. Bags packed, hearts full.

Final Thoughts: A 5-Star Voyage Aboard the Scarlet Lady

After seven unforgettable days sailing aboard Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady, I can honestly say this was the best cruise experience I’ve ever had. From the stylish cabins to the incredible food, the top-tier entertainment, and the unique atmosphere on board—every single detail was 5-star quality.

Cabins – Comfort with a Cool Edge
The Rock Star cabins gave us VIP treatment from the moment we stepped onboard. Spacious, modern, and super comfy—plus all the extras made us feel like true celebrities at sea.

Food – Next-Level Dining
From steak and eggs at The Wake to avant-garde tasting menus at The Test Kitchen, and late-night burgers at The Galley, the food exceeded expectations every time. There wasn’t a single “meh” meal on board—just hit after hit.

Entertainment – Bold, Wild & Brilliant
Whether it was live music at The Rocks Bar, Y2 throwback shows, or Scarlet Night madness, the entertainment was always original, fun, and completely unforgettable.

Shoutout to Our Hosts – Layla & Kerry
A massive thank you to our two amazing Virgin Voyages hosts, Layla and Kerry. Their warmth, professionalism, and eagle-eye attention to detail made the whole experience even more special. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they played a huge part in making this trip truly unforgettable.

The Scarlet Lady – A Whole New Way to Cruise
Virgin Voyages isn’t just another cruise line—it’s undoubtedly a lifestyle at sea. If you’re craving something modern, bold, and crafted for adults who want way more than just a deck chair and a buffet line, this is the cruise for you.

A huge thank you to Virgin Voyages for welcoming me aboard and creating such a phenomenal voyage. This trip has certainly gifted me with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and stories to last a lifetime.
