Rhodes is located in the Aegean Sea not far from the Marmaris coast of Turkey, apart from being one of the most beautiful Greek Islands in the Dodecanese Islands, Rhodes boosts a unique rich and cultural history with its idyllic Old Town with its paved alleyways, elegant mansions and its medieval palace of the Knights, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Dating back to the 14th-century, it was once home to the knights who ruled over the island. The Knight’s Quarter has stood the test of time filled with formidable fortresses designed to protect against invaders, you could almost imagine you have travelled back in time to the age of the Knights.
Don’t forget to pay a visit to the Acropolis of Rhodes, which has been partially reconstructed and features a theatre, stadium and the Temple of Apollo. Elsewhere on the island is the Lindos Acropolis, the ruins of which sit atop a rugged cliff with spectacular views.
With glistening beachfront resorts, Rhodes has some of the best beaches in the Greek Islands. Secluded or bustling, cosmopolitan or hidden, there’s no way you won’t find the perfect beach for you. Lindos, Anthony Quinn, Faliraki, Tsambika, Kallithea and Agathi are some of the best beaches on the island for you to discover!
Another option is to take a trip out to Prasonisi – during low tide, it becomes connected to Rhodes by a thin peninsula. Quiet and secluded, it’s the ideal place to kick back and enjoy some ‘you time’ or take a boat trip to the Island of Simi, Known as one of the most picturesque and traditional islands of the Dodecanese with its unique charm and standout coloured architecture.
