AmaWaterways

AmaWaterways was founded in 2002 and has been sailing guests on fascinating journeys along some of the world’s greatest waterways ever since.

Europe, Africa and Asia, they are all waiting to be explored and with AmaWaterways, your exploration begins the moment you step aboard one of their award-winning river cruise ships.

More than your average river cruise line

Although not entirely all inclusive, AmaWaterways does offer more than your average river cruise line. Once your booking is confirmed, you can relax knowing that your shore excursions; wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner; all dining onboard, Wi-Fi; and bicycle use ashore are all included.

Ideal for travellers of all experience and ages, AmaWaterways ships are small enough to allow for intimacy and the chance to see the same faces again, but large enough to give a sense of space and freedom. You’ll find quiet corners that are ideal for hiding away with a good book, and lively lounges that are just the ticket to an evening of fun, laughter and memory making.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Our cruise price includes a choice of up to four excursions in each port, all of your meals, complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water, alcoholic and soft drinks with your lunch and evening meals, Wi-Fi, Wellness Program activities and nightly Sip and Sail Cocktail Hours.

Onboard Experience

See the world in comfort and luxury as you begin an unforgettable river cruise with AmaWaterways.

Life onboard is relaxed and there are plenty of opportunities to do as much or as little as you like. The choice is entirely yours.

Each ship features a Sun Deck, which is home to a swimming pool and several areas to sit back and enjoy the sun and rolling scenery. You will also find a restaurant, lounge, bar, gift shop and a salon. Some vessels offer several bars and lounges, as well as a walking track, putting green and ‘The Chef’s Table Restaurant’.

For fitness and relaxation, head to the massage salon and fitness centre.

Onboard AmaWaterways Asia based vessel, you will find 2 spa options: the Saigon Spa and the Sadec Spa.

Nightly entertainment is offered in the ships’ main lounge and usually showcases local artists, singers and dancers. Trivia nights onboard are always popular, so don’t miss those. It’s a great way to meet new people and hopefully win bragging rights.

Staterooms and Suites

Staterooms and suites vary between ships and regions, but a typical stateroom aboard AmaWaterways European fleet and her Vietnam and Cambodia vessel will feature a balcony and/or French doors, sitting area, writing desk, mini-bar, safe, luxurious bedding atop a king size bed, complimentary water, flat screen TV with Entertainment on Demand, and bathrobe and slippers. Suites offer many of the same amenities, but on a larger scale.

Each stateroom has been designed to offer maximum use of space and deliver first-class comfort. Soft tones, with rich and dark woods give a real sense of luxury.

Staterooms aboard Zambezi Queen are different to those of the European and Asian fleet. They are ultra-modern and more minimalistic, with an emphasis on African wildlife. They feature floor to ceiling windows and balconies with stunning unrestricted views of the Chobe River. Predominantly decorated and furnished in earth tones, there are just 14 of these exclusive and spacious staterooms onboard.

Immersive Travel

Onboard all AmaWaterways river cruise ships the atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. The emphasis is on immersive travel without the hustle and bustle of getting from place to place. In Asia and Africa, guests will often enjoy the open deck areas of the ship day and night, admiring the countryside and in Africa, the wild animals that in some cases they can almost reach out and touch.

Destinations

Europe, Asia and Africa are closer than ever thanks to AmaWaterways selection of impressive and expertly crafted itineraries.

In Europe, explore the hidden gems of ancient towns, the bright lights of famous cities and best of all, do it from the comfort of your luxurious river cruise ship. Most European itineraries will see your vessel dock right in the heart of each destination, so there are no awkward shuttle bus journeys or winding gangways to navigate, you simply step ashore and you’re right where you need to be. Enjoy tours guided by local experts and learn more about each of the places you visit.

Vietnam and Cambodia river cruises feature an extensive selection of included tours because there’s simply so much to see. Sail from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap (or vice-versa) and explore lands in-between that are like no other on earth. Many of the tours here are immersive and focus on local cultures and ways of life.

When sailing the Chobe River in Africa, one must never be without his or her camera because the wildlife here is in abundance. There are several itinerary options, but all visit Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia. The ‘Golden Trails of East Africa’ itinerary also includes Tanzania.

Dining

All of AmaWaterways ships in Europe are members of the invitation-only La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, a prestigious international gastronomic society dedicated to fine cuisine, and that is exactly what you will enjoy during your cruise.

Locally-inspired cuisine is served across the fleet, alongside some familiar Western staples. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are a delight for the taste buds, and you have several options on where and how you dine.

The Main Restaurant is the heart of the ship and where all meals can be enjoyed, but in Europe and Asia, the evening also offers the option of dining at The Chef’s Table Restaurant, where a specialty menu is executed to perfection.

If you’re still content following a hearty breakfast and don’t want a large lunch, then stop by the Main Lounge and enjoy some fresh and exciting tapas, or pop along to the restaurant for a fresh salad or light sandwich.
